So many sources reference decor items that are on-trend for 2019 weddings that it gets hard to keep track of them all! Here's how to make it easier (you have enough things to plan)! Let Heart Wedding Decor keep track for you, all in one spot here on the blog. I'll be reporting all of the new trends as they come in from various sources such as Pinterest, The Knot, Wedding Wire, Green Wedding Shoes, June Bug Weddings and more! I will also give some ideas on how to bring these trendy items into your wedding ceremony and reception.
Up first are the hot colors that have been trending lately: mauve and navy! Although it seems to me like navy has always been popular, but hey, it's what "they" say. As far as mauve goes, I absolutely LOVE this color! In fact, a recent styled shoot I was a part of at Cathedral Barn in Traverse City, starred my mauve napkins in a head farm table set up. If you haven't already, I think you will definitely be seeing more of this beautiful color for table linens. Of course, Heart carries mauve in every fabric and style.
But with that being said (trending colors), color palettes are starting to become more fluid. What does this mean? Color choices are no longer as "matchy matchy" as they once were. For example, couples are choosing "pinks and blues" rather than a specific "blush pink" or "dusty blue". This broader hue of colors increases visual interest, and more of an ombre feel. For example, pink napkins might be chosen to play off the floral pinks. Or linens might be several shades of blue playing off the water (if a beach wedding) or the beautiful blue sky you will have on your Big Day!
Pearls! These pretty beads (real and fake) are popping up in many centerpieces and displays. They look absolutely lovely draped in and around your centerpieces and look especially nice with a vintage tea set and/or old antique books. I have used them draped about vintage lanterns for a recent English garden party style display and wrapped around napkins.
Iridescent pieces, especially cutlery, are trending. A fun choice might be an iridescent set of cake cutting knives that tie in a jeweled style wedding. The purple family of linens and tablescaping pieces (candle holders, floral, etc.) would look even more striking with iridescent flatware and glassware. We've got what you need here at Heart!
For fabric, the most popular choice is cotton gauze for runners and for draping atop or within various structures. This amazingly affordable linen looks absolutely amazing running down the center of own of our farm tables for an elegant feel, without covering the farm table and the reasons you rented it (rustic, yet still sleek).
Centerpieces and tablescapes are becoming less structured and becoming a more eclectic mix and match of various materials. For example, glass and ceramic or concretes and metals. Here at Heart, we are seeing more requests for the mixture of vintage china with modern linens. Or using candle holders in various heights and materials. Just be sure to keep things cohesive so things don't look too jumbled together. And we can help with all of this! We love to meet with our couples at our new showroom and do a "run-through" of ideas and how it all can look.
Rustic wooden boxes are a popular request for centerpieces and Heart has them! Neat story: our most popular rustic centerpiece boxes were handmade by a father for his daughter's wedding last year. They were gracious enough to provide them for us to continue delighting our couples! They really are a conversation piece! We will work with your florist to create centerpieces, or we can fill them with votive candles (or both)! Just beautiful!
Food boards and walls are trending. These are known as grazing stations and Heart has various sizes for any type of station you'd like to create: donut walls and boards, charcuterie boards with kraft paper, acrylic donut holders, and more! We will custom make something for you if you don't see what you want in our inventory.
And the third most popular trend is the metal circle arch for ceremonies. We've got them in gold but they can be custom made with any color you might want! They are very easy to customize. We can work with your florist if you'd like it wrapped with floral, or we can drape, or you can even do both! One of our brides for this fall also wants some small crate displays at the base of each side. What a beautiful display piece for ceremony pictures!
In second place are the latest linen trends. These include linens with texture, embellishments, lace trim or the mix of solid and printed table linens or napkins (for example our paisley lace as an overlay with solid poly or matte satin napkins). Here at Heart, we can provide linens in just about any fabric and style. And if for some reason, we can't find exactly what you want, we will special order it. We just want all of our couples to have the look and feel they have dreamed of. A reception where your friends and family enter the space and just go "wow".
And in the top spot, showing up the most on the various trend lists, are vignettes. What in the world are vignettes? The word “vignette” historically meant a vine around the edges of book pages, a short literary sketch, or a technique applied to photos. But in decorating, a vignette is a small grouping of objects that creates a pleasing focal point and, ideally, “tells a story”. I love vignettes because we at Heart have several beautiful furniture lounges and they all tell a different story. Take our antique gold lounge. It was part of a lounge area at the Grand Hotel and we have aptly named it "Somewhere in Time". Or our red print antique. It was my husband's favorite couch at his grandparents home and he spent a lot of time on it. She needs a bit of work, but those minor blemishes also tell a story. This sofa was well loved.
And now we hope that all of our lounge rentals and other decor rental pieces will also be enjoyed and just as well loved by our couples.
