All the Blues! A Beach Wedding at Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City

Updated: Jun 24, 2020

The weather could not have been more perfect for the wedding of A and O at Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City, Michigan. It was warm that September day last year, but not hot. A day for my husband of @thomasheathevents to marry the two of them as their officiant.

For our part as the decor rentals and design services provider, we were given some clear directives: we needed to incorporate four colors of blue: aqua, turquoise, marine and royal blue to be exact, and we were to create a vase arrangement that starred seashells and sand collected by the bride and her mother.

This super cute water-color effect greeted guests as they entered this pretty space!

To pull in that beach feel, I added the shells and sand to large hurricane vases that also held an ivory LED candle. And to top it off, I surprised everyone with a clever way to do the table numbers: using marine blue raffia and tying` them to the vase!

We also surprised the couple by adding some of our beautiful distressed wood and rope lanterns and candles to the ends of their head table.

Light blue uplights on the pipe and drape, and royal blue chair sashes and runners completed the look around the reception space.

It was SO much fun creating this dream wedding for A and O, using items personal and unique to them.
